Material reconciliation compares how much material should have been consumed (theoretical, from the BOQ) with how much actually was, flagging variance. It is the key control against over-consumption, wastage and pilferage of cement, steel and aggregates.

What to include
- Header — project/site, material head, period, prepared-by.
- Material & unit — the material being reconciled.
- Received — total quantity received.
- Theoretical (BOQ) — what should have been consumed.
- Actual consumed — what actually was.
- Variance & % — actual − theoretical, and as a %, auto-calculated.
How to prepare it (step by step)
- List each material with unit.
- Enter quantity received and theoretical consumption (from the BOQ).
- Enter actual consumption.
- Variance and variance % calculate automatically.
- Investigate any head beyond the agreed wastage allowance (e.g. cement > 2%, steel > 3%).
